Ricardo was born in the winter rain of ’97.
At the age of 6, he was climbing a big cliff and dreaming of growing up.
At 10, he was exchanging marbles, kicking balls and dreaming of being an architect.
At 18, the city came calling and he graduated in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto and dreamed of building.
At 22, he found his desire to travel in Mexico City and dreamed of books.
At 28, he needs writing to fuel a body that has become increasingly larger and he dreams.

Ricardo Monteiro (1997) is currently working at the Husos Arquiteturas while studying for a Master’s degree in Literary Studies at the Faculty of Philology of the Complutense University of Madrid. During the first semester of 2024, he undertook in-depth research into Brazilian crafts and contemporary art, developing his skills in writing, photography, sound and video. This self-taught documentary project included a field phase of collecting and archiving (interviews and various visual materials), culminating in the editing and production of content in various media in the studio, as part of the EV_Largo residency programme, at the Largo das Artes space in Rio de Janeiro. In this context, he also held an exhibition with Tiz Leão entitled “Stretching the Horizon”. Between 2021 and 2023, he worked at the studio of Jorge Domingues Arquitetos in Porto, and since 2018, he has collaborated with the interdisciplinary platform Alice Vieira. He completed his Master’s degree in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (2015-2022) with the thesis “Biography of a fragment or fragment of a biography: staging from Aldo Rossi’s Architettura Assassinata”. As part of her academic training, he took part in an international exchange programme at the UNAM Faculty of Architecture in Mexico. He complemented his studies by participating in international workshops and courses such as Projeto(R), Open House Lisboa, City, Space and Democracy – Digital Summer School, Petites Folies – Porto Design Biennial, and the Continuing Education Course in Architecture and Design – 20th Century Multifamily Housing, at FAUP. He has published essays for Scorpio Editions and MA Magazine, and has twice participated in the National Young Creators Exhibition by Gerador.

Na chuva do Inverno de 97 nasceu Ricardo.
Aos 6 anos, subia a um grande penedo e sonhava crescer.
Aos 10 anos, trocava berlindes, chutava bolas e sonhava ser arquiteto.
Aos 18 anos, a cidade apareceu e formou-se em arquitetura na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto e sonhava construir.
Aos 22 anos, na cidade do México encontrou o desejo da viagem e sonhava com os livros.
Aos 28 anos, necessita da escrita para alimentar um corpo que se tornou cada vez maior, e sonha.

Ricardo Monteiro (Leiria, 1997) colabora atualmente no atelier Husos Arquiteturas, enquanto cursa o mestrado em Estudos Literários na Faculdade de Filologia da Universidade Complutense, em Madrid. No primeiro semestre de 2024, realizou uma pesquisa aprofundada sobre o artesanato e a arte contemporânea brasileira, dedicando-se ao desenvolvimento das suas competências nas áreas de escrita, fotografia, som e vídeo. Este projeto documental, de caráter autodidata, incluiu uma fase de campo para a recolha e arquivo (entrevistas e distintos materiais visuais), culminando na edição e produção de conteúdos em diversos suportes no atelier, por meio do programa de residências EV_Largo, no espaço Largo das Artes, no Rio de Janeiro. Neste contexto, também realizou uma exposição com Tiz Leão, intitulada “Esticando o Horizonte”. Entre 2021 e 2023, trabalhou no atelier Jorge Domingues Arquitetos, no Porto, e, desde 2018, colabora com a plataforma interdisciplinar Alice Vieira. Concluiu o mestrado em Arquitetura na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto (2015-2022), com a dissertação “Biografia de um fragmento ou fragmento de uma biografia: encenação a partir da Architettura Assassinata de Aldo Rossi”. No âmbito da sua formação académica, participou num programa de intercâmbio internacional na Faculdade de Arquitectura da UNAM, no México. Complementou os seus estudos com a participação em workshops e cursos internacionais, como o Projeto(R), Open House Lisboa, City, Space and Democracy – Digital Summer School, Petites Folies – Bienal de Design do Porto, e o Curso de Formação Contínua em Arquitetura e Desenho – Habitação Multifamiliar do Século XX, na FAUP. Publicou ensaios pela Scorpio Editions e na MA Magazine e participou, por duas vezes, na Mostra Nacional Jovens Criadores.
