Ricardo was born in the winter rain of ’97.
At the age of 6, he was climbing a big cliff and dreaming of growing up.
At 10, he was exchanging marbles, kicking balls and dreaming of being an architect.
At 18, the city came calling and he graduated in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto and dreamed of building.
At 22, he found his desire to travel in Mexico City and dreamed of books.
At 29, he needs writing to fuel a body that has become increasingly larger and he dreams.
Ricardo Monteiro is an architect who holds a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP, 2022). His dissertation was titled “Biography of a fragment or fragment of a biography: staging based on Aldo Rossi’s Architettura Assassinata”. During his studies, he also completed an academic exchange at UNAM (Mexico). Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s degree in Literary Studies at the Universidad Complutense (Madrid), where he is conducting research on Lusophone African literature. His work explores multispecies ecologies and the role of the vegetal as an agent within relational ontologies, presenting a clear challenge to the anthropocentric perspective. His professional experience includes working at the architectural studios Husos Arquiteturas (Madrid) and Jorge Domingues Arquitetos (Porto). Additionally, since 2018, he has collaborated with the interdisciplinary platform Alice Vieira. He also works independently on architectural projects, successfully bridging the gap between practice and research. His creative and academic trajectory intersects multiple disciplines, encompassing the publication of essays (e.g., ENGAWA), presence in creative showcases (e.g., Gerador – Mostra Nacional Jovens Criadores), and participation in various courses (e.g., Architecture and Drawing – 20th Century Multifamily Housing), artistic residencies (e.g., EV_Largo), exhibitions (e.g., Esticando o Horizonte), and international workshops (e.g., Petites Folies – Porto Design Biennale).

Na chuva do Inverno de 97 nasceu Ricardo.
Aos 6 anos, subia a um grande penedo e sonhava crescer.
Aos 10 anos, trocava berlindes, chutava bolas e sonhava ser arquiteto.
Aos 18 anos, a cidade apareceu e formou-se em arquitetura na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto e sonhava construir.
Aos 22 anos, na cidade do México encontrou o desejo da viagem e sonhava com os livros.
Aos 29 anos, necessita da escrita para alimentar um corpo que se tornou cada vez maior, e sonha.
Ricardo Monteiro é arquiteto e mestre pela Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade do Porto (2022) com a dissertação “Biografia de um fragmento ou fragmento de uma biografia: encenação a partir da Architettura Assassinata de Aldo Rossi”, tendo ainda realizado intercâmbio na UNAM (México). Atualmente, frequenta o mestrado em Estudos Literários na Universidad Complutense (Madrid), onde desenvolve uma investigação em literaturas africanas de língua portuguesa, explorando ecologias multiespécie e o papel do vegetal enquanto agente nas ontologias relacionais, num claro desafio à perspetiva antropocêntrica. A sua experiência profissional inclui passagens pelos ateliers Husos Arquiteturas (Madrid) e Jorge Domingues Arquitetos (Porto), além de colaborar, desde 2018, com a plataforma interdisciplinar Alice Vieira. Atua de forma independente em projetos de arquitetura, aliando a prática projetual à investigação. O seu percurso autoral e formativo cruza várias disciplinas, integrando a publicação de ensaios (ex. ENGAWA), a presença em mostras (ex. Gerador – Mostra Nacional Jovens Criadores) e a participação em diversos cursos (ex. Arquitetura e Desenho – Habitação Multifamiliar do Século XX), residências (ex. EV_Largo), exposições (ex. Esticando o Horizonte) e workshops internacionais (ex. Petites Folies – Bienal de Design do Porto).
